in a similar situation like yours.
i used to look back on my songs from the 2013-2015/16 time period trying to understand where i went in the wrong AFTER that period.
Those 2+ years to me personally is a milestone on its own.
don't want to sound cocky but im proud that i managed to improve that much compared 2010-2013. usually im very humble and modest about it, i still feel that way though.
2016 was rough just like the following years.. i've been dwelling in what seems to be my own past which quickly became my downfall.
i'd put out demos, snippets, shorts but nothing of proper magnitude or a full song.
as an excuse i started doubting myself and my hearing for a good year thinking if i take a break and did something else entirely my hearing would magically be fixed..
obviously this was never the issue.
but in between everything i would (just like you) open FL with any given project i had started and be like yea.. what do?
add something here or there, close FL to be opened again on another day.
a vicious cycle of some sorts. or a block? either way.
i don't feel pressure to give to the NG public either.
But perhaps it is my motivation at this point, trying to both hone in on my own talent and skill and beat that stupid time period. its haunting me.

Nice to know there are others with that 'struggle'. Its something I have learned to just accept and not put pressure on myself, after all - this is just a hobby to me. Even yesterday I spent ages with a vocal sample and created a piano melody around it...opened it today and lost that burst of inspiration I had (then proceeded to go through other unfinished songs then close again). Think im good at creating melodies and the bones, but find it hard to progress to the end...something I am working on.
Nothing wrong with bigging yourself up when you can see genuine in improvement. By way of matter of fact, you are going to improve and see the results - especially looking back at older song you used to churn out; its self evident. I find what sometimes works is listening to other peoples songs that are similar or watch youtube videos/tutorials that at least have a chance of getting me motivated.
You probably have experienced these lulls, then out of nowhere - smashed out a good song you have put off/created...its usually what I do now.
